Promotion-chasing Shrewsbury have ousted Bromsgrove from second spot in the Birmingham League First Division. Bromsgrove were skittled for 127, thanks to Tom Allin's 6-41 and Reece O'Connell's 4-25. O'Connell then hit 32 as Shrewsbury cruised home. Mark Downes' five wickets helped Wellington (158) pull themselves out of the relegation zone with a welcome victory over Halesowen (126). Shifnal's loss to Moseley dropped them into the Premier Division's bottom two. Newport look doomed in the Second Division. Their 113 was never enough as they lost by four wickets to Ombersley. St George's hit 179, but were trounced by seven wickets by Tamworth. Struggling Oswestry ran the Third Division leaders Wombourne close, before losing by just five runs. They contained Wombourne for 154, but in reply - despite 60 from Alex Huxley - crumbled to 149. Bridgnorth put on a good display with bat and ball to beat Bablake. Bridgnorth made 235-6 (Paras Dogra 80 no, Peter Thompson 69), and then saw off Bablake for 133. Whitchurch lost to Fordhouses. Amjaad Alikhan took 5-51 as Fordhouses totalled a catchable 160, but Whitchurch could only manage a meagre 93 in reply. In the Shropshire Premier League, both the top two won again - Reman's beating Quatt by nine wickets, Albrighton triumphing against Ludlow by one wicket. Bottom-placed Much Wenlock managed a welcome win, cantering past Welshpool by 125 runs, to close the gap on second-bottom Broseley, who lost to Wem by 42 runs. Elsewhere, Shelton beat Bomere Heath by nine wickets, while Madeley (16pts) and Newtown (nine) drew.
