Dinesh Mongia - five wickets |
Dinesh Mongia was the star of the show as the Lashings World XI won the Shropshire Twenty20 festival. Mongia took 5-6 in his four overs, then hit 54 as the world stars beat the home county by seven wickets in the final. Reece O'Connell top-scored with 37 out of Shropshire's 88, but the World XI delighted the crowd, surging home with three overs to spare. World XI manager Alvin Kallicharran praised the hosts. "They had some good players," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. Jack Shantry was the pick of the Shropshire bowlers, taking 3-11 in his four overs. The World XI players clearly enjoyed themselves at Wellington's Wrekin College, as did the crowd at this annual festival - despite play being punctuated by several bursts of rain.
