Workington win Furness thriller

Workington beat Furness by four wickets to extend their lead at the top of the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division.

The league leaders were set 201 to win after Furness' opener Mike Gadsden made 71 of their 200-7.

But Workington captain Kristian Moffat (64) and Andrew Reed (50) both hit half-centuries as they posted 201-6.

Third-placed Furness added six points to their tally while Workington took 18 for their seventh win of the season.

Elsewhere, Dalton stunned Penrith by posting 237-5, with a splendid innings from Justin Quint (136) the highlight.

Penrith responded with 165-6 to take eight points while Dalton claimed 15 in an exciting winning draw.

Millom batsman Ryan Brown followed up his century against Carlisle with another unbeaten knock by hitting 117 of their 193 all out against Cleator.

Cleator responded with 159-9, including 64 from the impressive Graham Clarke.

Best bowling figures of the day came from Haverigg's Indian slow left-armer Sridharan Sriram who took 7-17.
