Workington again delivered an excellent weekend of cricket with a seven wicket win against Dalton on Saturday. Having bowled Dalton out for 174, the league leaders swept to 178-3 to tie up the match and Simon Beare hammered 80 runs to help seal a convincing win. Furness continued to keep pace at the top following their nine wicket win against struggling Whitehaven. 121 all out, Whitehaven were soon sent packing, thanks to an unbeaten 74 from Pakistani batsman Majeed Jehangir. Elsewhere in the Premier Divsion, Cockermouth saw off a Haverigg side nestled close to them in midtable with a 10 wicket win. A stunning century from youngster Greg Platten ended with his unbeaten 103 as he and fellow opener Hugh Gimber helped Cockermouth to a 186-0 scoreline. Haverigg were bowled out for a respectable 185, but the partnership of Platten and Gimber saw them claw back the deficit in just 40.1 overs. Keswick professional Dinuka Hettiarachchi took the best bowling figures for the weekend, the slow left-armer took 5-28 in the 140 run win against bottom side Duddon SC.
