Matt Mason is working hard in Perth |
Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes says he is confident of getting a lot more cricket out of paceman Matt Mason in 2008. After missing almost all of last season with a shoulder injury, Mason returned home to Perth last month to work on his fitness and play grade cricket.
But, after checking on Mason's progress down under, Rhodes told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "He's very happy.
"He's been bowling in the nets and he's pleased with the way it's going."
Mason, who turns 34 next month, spent the whole of last season battling for fitness and seeking expert medical advice on his long-standing shoulder injury.
He played just one County Championship game, at the Rose Bowl in August, only to ironically aggravate the injury while batting.
That finished his summer and Mason then underwent an operation at season's end, from which he is in the process of completing an expected full recovery.
