Debutant Nasir Jamshed smashed a rapid 61 and four other batsmen hit fifties as Pakistan crushed Zimbabwe by 104 runs in the opening one-day match.

Jamshed, 18, Younus Khan (79), Mohammad Yousuf (72), Shoaib Malik (63) and Misbah-ul-Haq (55no) all got after the bowling as the home side amassed 347-5.

Vusi Sibanda, Justice Chibabha and Sean Williams also hit fifties in reply.

But spinners Malik (3-34) and Shahid Afridi (2-33) bowled tightly to limit the tourists to 243-7 on a flat pitch.

Left-hander Jamshed enjoyed himself on the surface by timing the ball effortlessly.

He smashed three huge sixes - including two straight ones off seamer Elton Chigumbura - and reached 50 from just 40 balls before he was was caught at long-off.

Younus and Yousuf continued to dominate a listless visiting attack to add 113 from only 99 balls, before left-arm spinner Ray Price had both caught in the deep off extravagant shots.

Malik and Misbah provided a late flourish with a fifth wicket stand of 99 from 70 balls as five batsmen from the same team made fifties in a one-day international for the first time.

Captain Malik was out in the penultimate over and Misbah completed his half-century in the last over.

Sibanda hit 11 boundaries in 54 balls against Pakistan's inexperienced trio of medium-fast bowlers before Rao Iftikhar Anjum had the opener caught at mid-on.

That dismissal derailed the tourists' innings as Tatenda Taibu (13) was trapped leg-before by Afridi.

Chibhabha laboured for 73 balls but was bowled by a quicker leg-break from Afridi, who ran through the middle order with Malik.

The second match of the five-game series takes place in Hyderabad on Thursday.
