Sreesanth is returning home for further treatment |
India pace bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has been ruled out of the two-match Test series in Bangladesh. Sreesanth is suffering from an injury to his left calf and will be replaced by left-armer RP Singh, who is staying on after the one-dayers.
"Despite the best efforts at treatment of his injury, he will not be 100% fir for the start of the first Test.
"He will continue to require treatment for this soft tissue injury for another seven days," said a team statement.
Sreesanth has taken 37 wickets in eight Test appearances and has impressed observers with his energy and combative attitude.
His absence, however, offers 21-year-old Singh the chance to add to the two Test caps he won in Pakistan early last year.
The first Test starts in Chittagong on Friday and India will start as firm favourites after winning the one-day series 2-0.
