Bracewell took over as New Zealand coach in September 2003 |
New Zealand coach John Bracewell will decide on his future following a performance review after his side's World Cup semi-final loss to Sri Lanka. The 49-year-old's contract is set to expire and he could be tempted to talk to India, Bangladesh or West Indies, whose coaches have all resigned.
"Once we've gone through the review process I'll make that decision or that decision will be made for me," he said.
"I'm a professional coach. Lots of jobs have become available."
India's Greg Chappell, Dav Whatmore of Bangladesh and Bennett King of West Indies all resigned following their teams' exit from the World Cup.
And the tragic death of Bob Woolmer has left a vacancy for national coach of Pakistan.
 | We as a country underappreciated the standard of cricket that the Sri Lankans can produce |
New Zealand have now lost all of their five World Cup semi-finals following Tuesday's 81-run defeat at Sabina Park.
And former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe has called on Bracewell to follow Stephen Fleming, who has quit as one-day captain.
But Bracewell said: "There will always be reaction to disappointment.
"We as a country underappreciated the standard of cricket that the Sri Lankans can produce. They've got four or five world class cricketers who performed on the day and we didn't.
"The bottom line is we got beaten by a better side on the day. But there is unfinished business with this team."
Bracewell agreed with the decision of Fleming, who wants to remain as Test captain, and said spinner Daniel Vettori was the natural successor.
"[Vettori] is the obvious choice from my perspective, it shows some continuity," he added.
