Sri Lanka batsman Russel Arnold has announced his intention to retire from international cricket after the World Cup final on Saturday. The 33-year-old may now choose to pursue a coaching career.
Arnold has played 179 one-day internationals and 44 Test matches, since making his debut a decade ago.
"I think it is the right time. It's been 10 years and there have been ups and downs, but I have enjoyed every bit of it," he told The Island newspaper.
"I am going out without any regrets. I don't think I'll be playing competitive cricket any more, but I'll keep playing for the enjoyment.
"I definitely want to be involved in the sport in one way or another."
Sri Lanka qualified for Saturday's final in Barbados with an 81-run win over New Zealand in Jamaica on Tuesday.
Arnold enjoyed a permanent position in the Sri Lankan side between 1999 and 2003.
But a temporary loss of form forced him on the sidelines over the past two years before the selectors brought him back for the World Cup, where he has averaged 39 with the bat.
