Ireland kept their World Cricket League hopes alive by claiming a four-wicket victory over Bermuda in Nairobi.

Chasing Bermuda's 275-8, William Porterfield's unbeaten 112 and two late sixes from skipper Trent Johnson helped Ireland reach the target.

Ireland needed 21 off the final three overs but Johnston's two sixes helped Ireland win with eight balls to spare.

All-rounder Kevin O'Brien hit 54 for Ireland after claiming two wickets while Kenny Carroll struck 28 runs.

Niall O'Brien hit 25 runs for the Irish but Eoin Morgan (0), Andre Botha (9) and Kyle McCallan (4) all made little impression with the bat.

Botha fared better with the ball, claiming three wickets although at the expense of 74 runs from his 10 overs.

After winning the toss, Johnston sent the opposition into bat and it looked a questionable decision as Bermuda produced a solid total from their 50 overs.

Openers Clay Smith (52) and Dean Minors (51) put on 79 for the first wicket with both contributing half centuries.

Kyle McCallan trapped Smith for the first wicket but Bermuda continued to keep the score ticking along with Irving Romaine (26), Lionel Cann (44) and Devon Kemp (35) all contributing useful runs.

The Irish had win this match after losing their opening game against Scotland on Tuesday.

Adrian Birrell's side are next in action on Friday when they take on hosts Kenya.
