Coach Chappell (right) has come under renewed fire |
India's chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar is to travel to South Africa after the team's poor start to their tour. South Africa won the second one-day international by 157 runs on Wednesday after skittling India for 91.
Coach Greg Chappell has again come under fire in sections of the media but cricket board officer Ratnakar Shetty played down any controversy.
"Vengsarkar will join the team before the Test series," he said. "There is panic only in the media and public."
India started 2006 with 12 victories in 15 one-day matches, including eight successive wins, and Chappell was praised for ushering in changes and backing youngsters.
However, they were upset 4-1 in the West Indies in May and also failed to reach the semi-finals of the recent ICC Champions Trophy on home soil.
South Africa lead the five-match one-day series 1-0 with the third game in Cape Town on Sunday.
The three-Test series starts in Johannesburg on 15 December.
