Taylor reveals Walsh inspiration
Jerome Taylor
Taylor is now emerging as a genuine fast bowling spearhead
Pace bowler Jerome Taylor enhanced his growing reputation by taking 5-91 for West Indies against Pakistan in Multan.

And he was delighted to have helped his side into a strong position, which they built on by reaching 151-0 at the end of the second day's play.

"The wicket is not conducive for fast bowling...but if you bowl in the right areas you have a chance," said Taylor.

He cited fellow Jamaican Courtney Walsh as his inspiration and added: "I would love to emulate his feats."

Walsh retired in 2001 after taking 519 wickets in 132 Tests, which stood as a world record for three years and still puts him fifth on the all-time list.

Taylor's victims included Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq, who went early on for 31

"We all know how dangerous a batsman Inzamam is. His was a prized wicket, but [Corey] Collymore kept the pressure on from the other end and also bowled well," said Taylor.

West Indies will now look to press home their advantage with a sizeable first innings lead as they try to get back into the series after losing the opening game.

"There is a lot of work to be done in this Test and we need to build on the good start and press for a win," Taylor added.

Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer also acknowleged a fine effort by Taylor and Collymore.

"The ball started swinging after three or four overs and that was a crucial factor. We would have liked to score more runs but West Indies bowled very well with the new ball," he said.
