Tour Match, Grace Road (stumps, day two of three): Leicestershire 315-9d & 45-2; Pakistan 304-5d; Easy runs for Pakistan' Salman Butt in Leicestershire on Sunday |
Imran Farhat, Salman Butt, Faisal Iqbal and Kamran Akmal all warmed up for Pakistan's first Test at Lord's with half-centuries at Leicester.
Farhat retired on 81 while fellow opener Butt made 68 in a partnership for the first wicket worth 145.
Akmal (62 not out) put on 103 with Faisal Iqbal (40 not out) before Pakistan declared on 304-5 replying to Leicestershire's 315-9 declared.
The county then reached 45-2 in their second innings at stumps on day two.
Leicestershire have won just one of their matches in Division Two of the County Championship this season, and were never likely to prove fierce competitors to Pakistan.
Nick Walker and Ryan Cummins shared the new ball, and with the more established seamers Stuart Broad and David Masters rested, three spinners were left to bowl the remaining overs.
That trio included Christopher Liddle, a slow left-armer playing only his second first-class match.
Walker, joining the Foxes on a contract until the end of the season after being released by Derbyshire, had a decent day on a slow, low Grace Road wicket.
As well as bowling Butt, he won lbw decisions against Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi, who both registered failures.
Shoaib Malik was a fourth batsman left in need of a decent score. He was trapped lbw by Claude Henderson for 18.
In the 11 overs of bowling available to Pakistan before Monday's final day, Umar Gul and Mohammad Sami each picked up a wicket.
Pakistan have added co-opted former England paceman John Snow to help out bowling coach Waqar Younis.
Snow is an old friend of the tourists' coach Bob Woolmer.
