Lara's plea for pace unanswered
Marlon Samuels
Marlon Samuels is in, but Brian Lara was after more fast bowlers
West Indies cricket selectors have ignored captain Brian Lara's pleas for a genuine pace bowler to play against India in the third Test at St Kitts.

The panel has chosen the same fast-medium quintet of Jerome Taylor, Pedro Collins, Ian Bradshaw, Corey Collymore and Dwayne Bravo.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Dave Mohammed, who appeared in the first Test in Antigua was axed from the 13-man squad.

His spot was taken by Marlon Samuels, a specialist right-hand batsman.

One of Samuels and Runako Morton, who has been in the squad for the opening two matches without appearing, may now open the batting with Chris Gayle.

Daren Ganga, Gayle's partner so far in the series, has struggled with scores of 9, 36, 16 and 26 in his four innings.

The first two Tests were drawn, but India dominated and their batsmen have rarely been troubled.

West Indies squad: Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan (vice-captain), Chris Gayle, Daren Ganga, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Runako Morton, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Denesh Ramdin, Ian Bradshaw, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Jerome Taylor.
