Dhoni plays down drama over catch
Brian Lara makes his feelings about Daren Ganga's catch clear to Mahendra Dhoni
Dhoni was about to resume his innings when Lara intervened
Indian batsman Mahendra Dhoni has played down the controversy over his dismissal in the first Test in Antigua.

Daren Ganga claimed a catch on the boundary but there were suggestions he might have stepped on the rope.

Replays failed to provide conclusive evidence but Dhoni walked after some words from Windies skipper Brian Lara.

"Brian told me 'I'm taking charge of my players and whatever I say will be the truth. I think you should walk off'. I accepted this and went," Dhoni said.

"Daren came to me first and said he was not entirely sure because it's not easy to tell.

"But it's a topic that should now be left alone - we had enough of it on the field."

Windies coach Bennett King was also keen to draw a line under the affair, saying: "Let's move on from that, the decision's been made and that's all over." The incident came towards the end of the day after Dhoni had crashed six sixes to help set an imposing target of 392.

We have an opportunity to win the game but we have to make sure we have wickets in hand

King is optimistic his side can chase that on a batsman-friendly wicket although he admits they will adopt a cautious approach initially.

"Dhoni swung his axe and took it away from us a little but I still feel 392 is manageable," the Australian explained.

"The wicket's not conducive to either type of bowling and bowlers have to work pretty hard to get wickets.

"We need to get through the first two sessions and see if we're in a position to chase down something after tea.

"We have an opportunity to win the game but we have to make sure we have wickets in hand."

The mainstay of India's innings was Wasim Jaffer, who made his maiden double century.

The 28-year-old is playing in only his 11th Test despite making his debut more than six years ago.

He said: "I was not mature enough then but after I got dropped last time I learned a lot while playing domestic cricket.

"I scored heavily and now I'm ready to bat for long hours. I stay patient early on before I start playing my strokes.

"We needed to bat well and now the game is set up nicely. The odd ball is kicking up and we're hoping it might become two-paced."
