Carlton Baugh and Ramnaresh Sarwan celebrate victory |
West Indies captain Brian Lara has called on Ramnaresh Sarwan to continue his fine form and wrap up a one-day series victory over India. Sarwan unbeaten knocks of on 98 on Friday and 115 on Tuesday led the hosts into a 2-1 lead with two games to play.
"He was tremendous. We all know he is a great player, we just want to see some consistency from him," said Lara.
"We've got to close this series off on Friday in Trinidad and the players are looking forward to that."
Lara also praised his predecessor, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who contributed 58 to a crucial stand of 106 with Sarwan.
"He was injured and for him to see it through almost to the end was a special effort," he commented.
Sarwan bettered his previous best of 104 not out against England two years ago in the four-wicket win in St Kitts.
"I think this is probably my best one-day innings," he said afterwards.
India captain Rahul Dravid bemoaned the six wickets, including three run-outs, that fell for 31 runs in their second defeat to West Indies.
"We played very poorly in the final 15 overs. The three run-outs were crucial.
"We should have got another 50 runs easily," said Dravid, whose side were restricted to 245-9.
"It was another close game that went down to the final over, and it was disappointing that we ended up on the losing side again.
"We feel we haven't played anywhere near our potential in any of the three games.
"It's going to be a tough ask to win the next two, but we believe we can do it," Dravid added.
The two remaining games in the series take place in Trinidad on Friday and Sunday.
