Best took three wickets in the second Test at Kandy |
West Indies' Tino Best has been fined half his match fee for bowling three beamers in his team's defeat in the second Test against Sri Lanka. The International Cricket Council said he had been "found guilty of conduct contrary to the spirit of cricket."
Officiating match referee Mike Procter said: "Players need to be careful that they do not bowl in this manner."
Best bowled his first beamer on Friday in Sri Lanka's first innings, and did so again on Sunday and Monday.
A beamer is a fast ball that does not hit the wicket and passes the batsman above waist height.
It is an automatic no-ball and is the most dangerous delivery a batsman can face since it is so unexpected.
After Best's final indiscretion, he was taken out of the attack by New Zealand umpire Tony Hill under mandatory guidelines.
The Barbadian took three wickets in the course of the Test match, played in Kandy.
