India's planned 2007 tour of New Zealand has been postponed until 2008 because of a clash with the World Cup. The tour was to take place in February and March but was rescheduled mutually after the International Cricket Council switched the World Cup start to March.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive Martin Snedden said: "It left insufficient time for the tour."
The three Tests and five one-day internationals will now take place in December 2008.
However, Snedden refused to accept the side's World Cup build-up would be adversely affected.
"The Black Caps are participating in the ICC Champions Trophy in India from late October to early November 2006, followed by an inbound tour [by Bangladesh] from December 2006 to early January," he said.
"They will then participate in the VB tri-series in Australia from mid-January to mid-February 2007, a series which will also involve England.
"This series is likely to be followed by the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy Series [against Australia] in New Zealand in the second half of February."
India's form prior to the last World Cup in 2003 took a battering on tour in New Zealand.
On pitches that clearly favoured the home side, India were routed 2-0 in the Tests and 5-2 in the one-dayers.
