Arthur could be in trouble again for his post-play comments |
South Africa coach Mickey Arthur has been cleared over comments made about umpiring in the third Test in Sydney. Arthur had told a news conference that he felt several lbw appeals had gone Australia's way on Wednesday.
The International Cricket Council has a strict code of conduct against publicly criticising umpire decisions.
But ICC match referee Chris Broad ruled that Arthur had only expressed his disappointment at the decisions, rather than criticised the umpires.
"On the evidence presented, the article which quoted Arthur did not breach the ICC Code of Conduct," an ICC statement read on Friday.
"Disappointment at an umpire's decision is allowed by both players and team officials and I am satisfied with the explanation provided by the coach."
Arthur was hauled before a ICC judiciary after saying: "We felt we were on the back end of a few decisions that didn't go our way. I am disappointed.
"Certainly, we feel we had (Ricky) Ponting, (Mike) Hussey and (Andrew) Symonds earlier than they were eventually out."
