Flintoff has never appeared in a Test against Australia |
Andrew Flintoff is the only England player selected in both the Test and one-day World squads for October's ICC Super Series against Australia.
Steve Harmison, Andrew Strauss and Michael Vaughan are in the 30 for the Test match in Sydney on 14 October.
And Kevin Pietersen, who burst onto the international scene in January, is a surprise in the one-day squad.
Veteran Darren Gough and vice-captain Marcus Trescothick make up the England contingent, both in the one-day squad.
"The panel is confident that these are the best combinations of players," said chief selector Sunil Gavaskar.
The World XI will take on Australia in a three-match one-day series in Melbourne on 5, 7 and 9 October, with a six-day Test to follow.
The two squads will be trimmed to just 20 names in early July before the final squads are announced in August, but other names could be added from outside of the 30.
Pakistan's successful tour of India has helped nine of its players gain selection across both squads

England, India and South Africa all have seven players in the squads, while Sri Lanka has four, West Indies three and New Zealand two.
No players were selected from Bangladesh, Zimbabwe or Kenya.
The Super Series was conceived by the International Cricket Council last year.
It pits the top sides in the ICC Test Championship and the ODI Championship against a combination of the leading players in the world.
Sides named "Rest of the World" have played in England and Australia in the past, but have never been accorded official Test status before.
