Loudon's promise has been recognised by the England selectors |
Warwickshire's director of coaching Mark Greatbatch says England new-boy Alex Loudon has the qualities needed to make a big impact with England. Greatbatch told BBC Sport: "I've observed Alex and talked to him, and he's quality across the board.
"He's brought a really good depth to us. He's got good talent, but he's also got a good brain on him - and for me, those are key attributes.
"He shows guts and Duncan (Fletcher) is picking people with those qualities."
Loudon, an off-spinner who is also an accomplished batsman, was one of the surprise picks for England's forthcoming tour of Pakistan.
The 25-year-old is likely to start behind Ashley Giles and Shaun Udal in the pecking order, but Greatbatch believes he is the sort of player who could make an impact if called upon.
"He is a strong character and he can deliver when things are tough," said Greatbatch.
"That counts for a lot in a player."
England play the opening match of their tour in Rawalpindi on 31 October.
