Davies steel fails to worry India
Second Under-19 Test, Calcutta, day three of four (close): England 147 & 140-6 v India 410-8 declared

A defiant half-century from captain Steven Davies failed to allay the prospect of an innings defeat for England under-19s in Calcutta.

The Worcestershire wicket-keeper and left-handed batsman hit 66 in a second innings score of 140-6, which leaves the tourists still 123 runs behind.

At one point, young England were 49-4 until Davies and 17-year-old Moeen Ali put on 84 in 36 overs.

Ben Harmison took 4-58 in India under-19s' 410-8 declared.
