Record knock delights Vincent
Lou Vincent
Lou Vincent was in jubilant mood after replacing legendary Kiwi Glenn Turner with the highest individual one-day international score by a New Zealander.

Vincent, who smashed 172 on his return to the side after an absence of almost two years, said: "I was excited to be given a chance and it was my day.

"Beating a legend is exciting, and I'm happy to have the skills to do it."

Zimbabwe skipper Tatenda Taibu said: "It was awful, we need to improve in all three departments of the game."

New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming, who shared a record partnership of 204 with Vincent for the opening wicket, was full of praise for the fluency of his batsmen, despite the inferior opposition.

"To score that many runs in that amount of overs was pretty special," said Fleming, who made a cavalier 93 from 87 balls.

"There was some great hitting, and a fine innings from Lou. I tend to feed off who I'm batting with, and this was exceptional.

"To get almost 400 against any side means there are some pretty good skills on display."
