Newly appointed Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer has invited disgruntled predecessor Javed Miandad to help him take the team forward.
Miandad was left fuming after the Pakistan Cricket Board terminated his contract 10 months early and appointed former England Test batsman Woolmer.
"I know Javed is not a happy man at the moment but I would like his input," Woolmer told BBC Sport.
"He would be very important in guiding me on how to run the show."
Miandad branded the PCB "unethical" after his third term as Pakistan coach was cut short.
"While my contract was in effect, they settled terms and conditions with someone else," he said. "This is a clear breach of contract, which I consider unethical.
"If you are a professional you have to face it.
"If I was not good enough, why was I brought in as coach last year?"
Woolmer, a former coach of South Africa and Warwickshire, hopes Miandad can put his resentment to one side.
"I played against Javed, I've been to his house in Pakistan for a meal and he would be very important," he said.
"It's up to him, but along with others in the country his advice would be invaluable.
"It's up to me to sift through the advice and bring the whole of Pakistan cricket together."
Miandad, who has declined an offer from the PCB to fill the post of national advisor on cricket development, hopes Woolmer will be a success.
"He is a foreign coach. I wish him the best of luck on his assignment which is going to be a tough one," he said.
Miandad was brought in by Pakistan after Richard Pybus stepped down following last year's World Cup.
