Australia opt for Tait pace
Shaun Tait
Tait's inclusion puts pressure on Glenn McGrath
Australia have called up pace bowler Shaun Tait for next month's Test series against Sri Lanka.

Tait replaces spinner Cameron White in the only change since the cancelled series in Zimbabwe.

His arrival places increased pressure on Glenn McGrath, who missed much of last year with an ankle injury.

"With Glenn McGrath still to play under Test match conditions, Shaun Tait's selection will add significant depth," said selector Trevor Hohns.

"Shaun impressed a lot of people over summer with his raw pace and natural ability, and should he play, will give our attack that extra edge in the pace department."

Tait joined the Australia squad, but did not play, when an injured Brett Lee was forced out of the tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year.

McGrath made a tentative return from a 10-month layoff following ankle surgery in Australia's 3-0 one-day series whitewash of Zimbabwe.

Brad Williams, who flew home early from Zimbabwe with back trouble, was included in the squad after a scan showed the injury was not serious.

Sri Lanka will arrive on 20 June, opening their tour with a warm-up game against a Northern Territory Chief Minister's XI before Tests in Darwin and Cairns.

Australia squad: Ricky Ponting (capt), Adam Gilchrist (wkt), Jason Gillespie, Matthew Hayden, Simon Katich, Michael Kasprowicz, Damien Martyn, Glenn McGrath, Justin Langer, Darren Lehmann, Shane Warne, Brad Williams, Shaun Tait.
