Pakistan will await an International Cricket Council verdict on Zimbabwe before deciding whether to host a tour for the crisis-hit African side. The tour, planned for October this year, was scheduled to consist of two Tests and five one-day games.
Zimbabwean cricket was plunged into crisis when 15 white rebels walked out because of selection disagreements.
Australia then arrived for a series only to find the Test element of the tour had to be cancelled.
The crisis led to calls for Zimbabwe be stripped altogether of their Test status, granted in 1992.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja said he did not support such an initiative.
"When you give them Test status it should be protected," he said. "The ICC must give Zimbabwe and Bangladesh time to improve."
He added that Pakistan would incur financial losses should their home series against Zimbabwe fail to materialise.
"It would be hard to find a replacement team in the hectic international schedule," he said. His intention is for both Tests and one-dayers to be included in the itinerary.
