Former Test captain Wasim Bari has returned as Pakistan's chairman of selectors to replace Aamir Sohail. Bari was initially handed the job for a 16-month period which ended when he was sacked in July 2001.
He was re-instated before being ousted again shortly after Pakistan's sorry performance in the World Cup.
Sohail resigned after the national under-17 team he selected was opposed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan.
"I did my job honestly and am happy that I have revived a team which, if it plays up to its potential, can beat India," said Sohail.
"My career is as a commentator so I have decided to leave and it's not on a bitter note."
Khan said Sohail's input in the selection process had "led to a significant improvement in the team's performance since the World Cup."
Bari, meanwhile, once said: "Selection is a thankless job. You can't always please everyone."
