Tour match, East London day one of four: Border 68-2 v West Indies 278 Shivnarine Chanderpaul fell two short of a century as West Indies were bowled out for 278 by Border.
The tourists lasted just 71 overs, fast bowler Tyron Henderson taking 5-57 for the provincial side.
Border reached 68-2 by the end of day one, new call-up Adam Sanford taking his first wicket of the tour.
Captain Brian Lara, who saw his side slump to a 189-run first Test defeat despite his double-century, continued his fine form with 81.
And Chanderpaul was last man out after a dashing 121-run innings.
But no other batsman passed 30, and the last four in the West Indies innings all went for ducks, as Henderson ran through the lower order.
West Indies' next Test against South Africa begins in Durban on 26 December.
