Barbara McDonald was among the wickets again as Ireland made it two wins out of two at the IWCC Trophy tournament in Holland by beating newcomers Japan. Seam bowler McDonald followed up figures of 4-13 in Monday's game against the West Indies by taking 3-10 as the Japanese were dismissed for 62.
The Irish had no trouble in knocking off the runs for the loss of only one wicket with Clare O'Leary finishing unbeaten on 31.
Scotland have yet to break their duck after losing to Pakistan by 48 runs.
Vari Maxwell took 4-38 in Pakistan's total of 164-9, but the Scots fell well short of their target despite 40 by captain Kari Anderson.
Hosts Holland suffered a setback to their hopes as they went down by seven wickets to the West Indies.
After scoring 300 against Scotland in their first game, the Dutch could only manage 125-8 in their 50 overs and their opponents breezed home with 13 overs to spare.
Nadine George (40) and Juliana Nero (39) were the main scorers for the West Indies.
The tournament continues until Saturday with the top two teams set to qualify for the 2005 Women's World Cup in South Africa.
