Pakistan pacemen 'poor'

Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif said his pace attack got it all wrong after England romped to victory at The Oval.

The Pakistani batsmen did not fare too well in posting only 185 before being bowled out in the 44th over.

But against a Marcus Trescothick barrage, their bowlers humbled as victory was gained with 28 overs to spare.

Shoaib Akhtar, playing his first game since serving a three-game ban for ball-tampering, returned figures of 2-69 from nine overs.

"We tried to bowl very fast, but I think on this wicket the most important thing was line and length," Latif said.

"Today we bowled and batted very badly, but England did very well and deserved to win the game."

The only positive Pakistan could draw from the game was Yousuf Youhana's unbeaten 75.

"This is a very good time for him in our batting order because he didn't play well in the last seven or eight games," Latif added.

"He is clicking at the right time."

England's victory sets up a tantalising series decider at Lord's on Sunday.

Latif is hopeful Pakistan can bounce back.

"This is a very testing time for our team and the last game is very important," he said.

"But we will try."
