Current South African captain Shaun Pollock said his predecessor Hansie Cronje may seek a living outside cricket for a while.

But, in an interview with BBC Radio Five, he also said the disgraced former skipper could coach an English county side.

Or alternatively he could work with deprived youngsters in his own country.

Speaking after Cronje failed in his appeal against the ban preventing him from playing or carrying out officially-sanctioned coaching, Pollock said Cronje still had much to offer.

He said: "Anyone who has captained his country for as long as he has will have a lot of experience and a lot he can pass on.

"But obviously the United Cricket Board has made a decision and you have to respect that.

"He's paid the price for what he did - he realises he's made a mistake that damaged the game of cricket, but he's got to move on."

Pollock admitted many would find it hard to forgive Cronje.

But he added: "He's regretted what he's done. He's trying to move on. People should put the matter to rest."
