Kent strolled to an eight-wicket win over Essex thanks to half centuries from Rob Key and Azhar Mahmood.
Essex posted 153-8, opener Mark Pettini top scoring with 36 from 26 balls, while Adam Ball took 2-28.
Kent's run chase never looked in any doubt after Joe Denly and Key put on 55 for the first wicket.
Key scored 75, supported by Mahmood's 50 not out, as Kent cantered home with 13 balls to spare, leapfrogging Essex in the FL t20 South Group.
England all-rounder Ravi Bopara, temporarily released from international duty to play in this match, had an evening to forget.
He scored just one run and went for 14 runs from his one over.
