Tom Maynard's half-century helped Surrey to a 21-run victory over Middlesex in the FL t20 South Group.

Rory Hamilton-Brown (30) and Jason Roy (32) gave the hosts a solid platform at The Oval and Maynard's 37-ball unbeaten 50 enabled Surrey to reach 163-5.

Neil Dexter took 3-18 but was the first to fall when Middlesex started their reply, with the visitors always behind the required run rate at The Oval.

Scott Newman top-scored with 61 as they fell short on 142-3.

Middlesex stay bottom of the group at the halfway point in their group matches, with only one win, external from eight games.

POST-MATCH REACTION

Middlesex coach Richard Scott:

"I think we conceded a few too many, 140-150 would have been par.

"Having said that, Tom Maynard played a terrific innings and got them up to that total with some power hitting at the end.

"Generally I'm pleased, we competed as well as we could. I think all the lads gave it their all but we just came up short in the end."
