Promising pole vaulter Bryony Raine has been called up for the Team Wales squad at next month's Commonwealth Games.

The 24-year-old was bronze medallist at the 2009 UK Championships and will make her major event debut in Delhi.

And while Raine wins a call-up, teenage decathlete David Guest has withdrawn from the athletics team due to injury.

The 18-year-old sustained a knee injury in the World Junior Championships in Canada so has been forced to pull out of the 22-man athletics squad.

Raine, meanwhile, has been rewarded with a Commonwealth call for jumping a personal best of 4.15 metres earlier in the year.

The Cardiff athlete will join European championship medallists Dai Greene, Rhys Williams and Christian Malcolm in the Delhi-bound athletics squad.

But the UWIC student will be focusing on gaining experience on her international debut.
