Anderson battled his way back into contention

The Scot appeared down and out after falling five points behind to his tricky opponent at the end of the opening round in Melbourne.

But Anderson took advantage as the Nigerian tired badly.

He forced a standing count from a big right hand in round three and also benefitted from a points deduction.

But Anderson knew he had to come up with a sensational finish and he piled on the pressure.

The Edinburgh fighter forced another standing count in the final round before grabbing gold with a 23-19 margin.

Afterwards and elated Anderson said: "I'm just so happy about this I can't begin to describe it.

"It's tremendous and it felt like I was fighting at home the support was so big.

"That really lifted me after I went behind the Nigerian and really brought me back into the fight. Everyone went crazy and I knew it was my time."
