Scotland's haul of 12 medals in the pool in Melbourne has made swimming the most successful Scottish sport in Commonwealth Games history. Scotland's swimmers have won six golds, three silvers and three bronze medals, to overtake the 10 medals the judo team won in Manchester four years ago.
The athletics team also won 10 medals in Brisbane in 1982, but the swimmers' performance has surpassed that.
David Carry, Gregor Tait and Caitlin McClatchey won two golds each.
Carry was also part of the silver-winning 4x200m freestyle team, as was Euan Dale, who won an individual silver in the sprint.
Tait added an individual bronze and a team bronze in the 4x100m medley relay to his personal tally.
Kirsty Balfour, in a British record time, claimed silver in the 200m breaststroke and a bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
Balfour was the first medal winner and she correctly predicted: "The Scots are on the move in the pool this week.
"I was so pleased with that swim," she added on the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland website.
"I can't believe I am swimming so well - it is a dream come true. I used the rhythm of the crowd noise to make me go faster. I just tried to keep up for as long as I could."
Tait added: "This is the strongest team we've had for a long, long time and we are proving it."
