Malcolm pulled up in the 100m heats on Sunday |
Welsh sprinter Christian Malcolm has pulled out of the Commonwealth Games with a hamstring injury. Malcolm, 26, pulled up in the 100m heats on Sunday but had hoped to be fit for the 200m, his specialist event, which begins on Wednesday.
"I am gutted," he said. "The Games are special because it is a chance to compete for Wales.
"After (Asafa) Powell, the 100m medals were there for the taking, and gold was there for the taking in the 200m."
Malcolm revealed he has a slight hamstring tear and expects to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
