Scotland's Chris Hoy
Hoy was favourite to win the time trial but only came third
Cyclist Chris Hoy has pledged to use his Commonwealth Games disappointment to inspire Scotland to gold on Sunday.

Hoy took the bronze after starting as favourite for Thursday's kilometre time trial, but is part of the three-man Scottish contingent in the team sprint.

"Missing out on the gold was a massive disappointment - I was going superbly in training but it just didn't happen," Hoy told BBC Sport.

"It's made me all the more focused for Sunday's team sprint."

He added: "Hopefully Scotland and England can keep out Australia - in that order."

Scotland beat England last month in competition near the British training camp in Perth but Hoy warned against reading too much into it.

He said: "They'll now be boosted by Jamie Staff, which makes a big difference. So it'll be pretty close now.

"But I'll certainly be coming out in the competition with a lot of determination."
