Wiltshire canoeist Ed McKeever has been named canoeing's athlete of the year by the British Olympic Association. The 27-year-old, from Bradford on Avon, won gold in the K1 200m race at the World Sprint Canoe Championships in Poland in August. McKeever, who expects to challenge for a medal at the London Olympics in 2012, was one of 33 athletes to receive the Olympic Athlete of the Year trophies. The awards aim to recognise the top performers in winter and summer sports.
