Ex-world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch insists his back problem will not hamper his chances when he faces Arthur Abraham for the WBC title.

The Nottingham fighter had to withdraw from the original bout in Monaco last month because of the injury.

But Froch told BBC Radio Nottingham he is fit for the fight in Helsinki, Finland on Saturday, 27 November.

"It's as 100% as it can be. I can't see it being a problem now or in the future [when fighting]," the 33-year-old said.

Froch has an immediate opportunity to win back the WBC belt that he lost on points to Mikkel Kessler in April.

He is already guaranteed a place in the semi-finals of the Super Six tournament - even if he loses to Abraham.

But Froch will be keen to win back the title, which he held for 16 months after beating Jean Pascal in December 2008.

Froch has been training at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield, and has been staying in a hotel just outside of the city as he focuses on the forthcoming fight.

He heads back to Nottingham at the end of this week, before flying out to Helsinki this weekend. The measured build-up is in stark contrast to the Kessler fight, when the ash cloud delayed his arrival in Denmark.

In the end, Froch and his team chartered a light aircraft to make the journey on the Wednesday ahead of the fight.

Having lost to the Dane, he then had to withdraw from the October date in Monaco.

He added: "What happened before [when he pulled out of the Abraham contest] was that it was too close to the fight.

"I had to do some travelling to Monaco for press obligations, and I was also sparring. The injury meant I was missing vital parts of the sparring so close to the fight. It was too risky. I did the right thing pulling out of the fight.

"It's a little bit of an ongoing problem, but don't get me wrong my back's fine now, it's healed. Everything's going really smoothly because I've got all the boxing rounds in I need."
