Jamaican veteran Glen Johnson has been brought in to replace injured WBC world champion Mikkel Kessler in the Super Six World Boxing Classic.

Kessler withdrew from the super-middleweight tournament with an eye injury having beaten Nottingham's Carl Froch in April to win the WBC title.

Former IBF light-heavyweight champion Johnson, 41, is a veteran of 66 fights and faces Allan Green on 6 November.

"I want to thank Showtime for including me in the Super Six," said Johnson.

Johnson last fought in July losing a unanimous points decision to Tavoris Cloud but now has an opportunity to face some of the world's top super-middleweights.

"Having dedicated so many years to the sport of boxing, it is gratifying to still be considered worthy of competing with some of the top fighters in the world and on such a prestigious platform," added Johnson, who has won 50 and lost 14 of his 66 fights.

His fight with Green takes place at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas and is on the undercard to undefeated WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez's fight against Rafael Marquez.

Green was originally brought in to replace Jermain Taylor who withdrew from the tournament following his brutal loss to Arthur Abraham in October 2009.

American Green lost his opening Super Six fight to Andre Ward in June. Ward faces Andre Dirrell on the same night that Froch faces Abraham on 27 November with the winners of each fight likely progressing through to the final of the round-robin tournament.
