Rob Hunt set to fight for International Masters title

Hunt is now undefeated in 15 professional fights

Staffordshire boxer Rob Hunt is set to fight for a light-welterweight title after a clear points victory over Ben Lawler in Wolverhampton.

Hunt had Lawler down in the fifth and referee Shaun Messer gave him all six rounds and 60-54 points victory.

He should now fight for a belt at the Moat House in Stoke in November.

"After a few tweaks here and there he will be ready to challenge for major titles," Hunt's manager Paul Dykes told BBC Radio Stoke.

Hunt, 24, who also works as a bricklayer is now unbeaten in 15 professional fights and will fight again at the show organised by Dykes on 11 November.

"I'm now trying to contact people about the International Masters title, the British Masters and the Midlands area title.

"The International Masters is vacant and we're going through the record books and dates to see who else is available.

"It's just down to a bit of horse-trading now but that's boxing," Dykes said

Whichever title Hunt fights for could be a springboard to greater things, and Dykes believes his charge is ready to make the step up.

"Rob is now emerging as a boxer who is steadily moving up the rankings although he is still far from the finished article.

"He did really well on Sunday and his record is now the best of any professional boxer to come out of North Staffordshire," he added.
