Hunt is unbeaten across three fighting disciplines |
Staffordshire boxer Rob Hunt could fight for the midlands title in Stoke if he beats Ben Lawler in Wolverhampton on Sunday. Manager Paul Dyke thinks the 24-year-old, unbeaten in 14 fights as a pro, could soon fight at national level. "He's unbeaten and ready to step up. If he wins on Saturday we'll be looking for a midlands title fight in Stoke," Dyke told BBC Radio Stoke. "Then he'd only be five or six fights from fighting for the English title." Hunt turned professional after just two fights as an amateur and the former kick-boxer is unbeaten across all three disciplines. Should the light-welterweight beat Lawler, he would take his place on top of a bill being put together by Dyke at the Etruria's Moat House Hotel on 11 November. Skegness fighter Lawler, 25, has won six and lost five of his professional contests and Dyke believes Hunt can take his record to 15-0. "Rob knows he can't afford to lose. He's done very well having had so few amateur fights and now he deserves a title fight in Stoke," he said.
