Pryce will hope to follow stable-mate Gavin Rees as a Prizefighter king |
Ex-Commonwealth champions Bradley Pryce (Newbridge) and Neil Sinclair (Belfast) headline the light-middleweight line-up for the next Prizefighter crown. Seven fighters have been confirmed for the event at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, on Friday, 26 February. Danny Butler (Bristol), Brett Flournoy (Birkenhead), George Hillyard (Canning Town), Steve O'Meara (West Drayton) and Prince Arron (Manchester) are also in. Martin Concepcion or Kevin Hammond should take the eighth and final spot. Leicester's Concepcion and Lincoln's Hammond face each other in Nottingham on 5 February, with the winner expected to go forward into Prizefighter. The innovative, one-night tournament sees eight men competing in four quarter-finals of three rounds. | 606: DEBATE |
The winners advance to the semi-final and then the final on the same night, each bout over three rounds. "It's another stunning line up for Prizefighter as more and more champions want to be involved," said promoter Matchroom Sport's managing director Eddie Hearn. "We're back at the York Hall - the home of British boxing - where it will be a guaranteed sell out and a great atmosphere. "Once again it's a mix of former champions trying to reignite their careers and young guns looking to make a big name for themselves but, as always, there can only be only one winner."
