Joe Calzaghe says Bradley Pryce and Gavin Rees can claim world titles following their winning ring returns.

"[Gavin's] won a world title before, why not again?" said promoter Calzaghe after Rees, 29, stopped late stand-in Johnny Greaves at the Newport Centre.

Pryce, 28, scored an impressive points win over durable Michael Monaghan in the top-of-the-bill bout for the second show put on by Calzaghe Promotions.

"When Bradley's in that sort of form he could win a world belt," said Calzaghe.

"It was great to see him back in the ring, he looked very good.

"Monaghan used to spar with me and I knew he would be one tough customer, he gave the crowd great entertainment.

"I love Bradley, I've always been a fan of his, he always gives value for money.

"Win or lose he wears his heart on his sleeve and there's a touch of class about him, I need to keep him busy."

Newport's Pryce was in his first fight since losing his Commonwealth light-middleweight title in March.

He is expected to be out again in the next Calzaghe Promotions show, planned for the Newport Centre in October, and will then look to challenge British and Commonwealth champion Anthony Small.

You could see Gavin was frustrated out there

"Bradley's beaten Small before, and Small's an excellent fighter," said Calzaghe.

Rees' lightweight bout, decided when Greaves failed to come out for the fifth round, was the Newbridge man's first fight since he lost his WBA light-welterweight title in March 2008.

"You could see Gavin was frustrated out there, he wanted to knock [Greaves] out with every punch," said Calzaghe.

"He looked sharp back at the weight he should [always] have been, lightweight, he did really well.

"I have to keep Bradley and Gavin busy now and get them in title fights within the next 12 months."

Rees, whose title loss to Andreas Kotelnik is his only setback in 29 fights, also expects to be on the next Calzaghe Promotions show in October before a planned assault on the British lightweight title.

Pryce - who, like Rees, is trained by Joe's father Enzo Calzaghe - can now boast a professional record of 28 wins and seven defeats.
