Liverpool light-middleweight Joe McNally has prepared for his latest fight by sparring with WBU welterweight world champion Michael Jennings.

The 23-year-old novice professional told BBC Radio Merseyside working with Jennings had been a real eye-opener.

"It's hard getting punched by him but I've learnt more off Michael Jennings and Paula de Silva then I did in my first four fights as a professional.

"The experience of sparring them has been unbelievable," said McNally.

McNally will fight for the fifth time in the paid ranks on the Derry Mathews show at Liverpool Olympia on Saturday.

Last time out he fought and beat Paul Royston over four two-minute rounds.

It doesn't seem a lot, that extra minute, but believe me when you are in there the extra minute is a lot

He is still waiting for an opponent to be confirmed, which is not unusual at this level.

McNally said he was hoping to fight over three-minute rounds at the Olympia.

"When you are getting two-minute rounds you are not up on your toes bouncing everywhere so the rounds fly by," he added.

"It doesn't seem a lot, that extra minute, but believe me when you are in there the extra minute is a lot.

"I don't bounce around a lot so three-minute rounds suit my style."

Saturday's 'Back with a Bang' show features the following local fighters: Derry Mathews, Joey Ainscough, John Watson, Stephen Burke, Joe McNally, Mike Stafford, Graham Delehedy, Rhys Roberts and Paul Edwards.
