Calzaghe is eager to fight Bernard Hopkins |
Joe Calzaghe has revealed his next fight could be his last. The undisputed super-middleweight champion turns 36 in March and is hopeful of lining up a fight with American Bernard Hopkins in 2008.
He told the Daily Mirror: "My next fight could most definitely be my last. I don't want to fight on for the money. That's not the right motivation.
"I might have one more and then decide to pack it all in and get on with the rest of my life."
Promoter Frank Warren is confident a deal can be reached for the Welshman to face American legend Hopkins at light-heavy, while former world middleweight champion Jermain Taylor has declared his interest in meeting the Welshman.

Ronald "Winky" Wright is also keen to fight the newly crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year but Calzaghe would prefer the chance to become a two-weight world champion with a victory over Hopkins.
He added: "I've achieved almost everything I wanted to achieve. I've reigned as world champion for 10 years and had 21 defences. There are only one or two fighters in history who can beat that. What else is there for me to achieve?
"Everyone saw how crap I was against Sakio Bika. I would prefer to give up my belts than take another fight like that.
"Very few fighters go out as unbeaten champions. Rocky Marciano did and that's how I want to go out."
Calzaghe is unbeaten in 44 fights and became the undisputed super middleweight champion in November after he outpointed Denmark's Mikkel Kessler.
