Khan was made to work hard in his last fight against Limond |
Amir Khan will have his next fight at the Nottingham Arena on 6 October, but no opponent has been finalised as yet. It is not clear whether Khan's Commonwealth lightweight title, won last week, will be on the line.
Khan won the belt when Willie Limond retired with a broken jaw and nose after eight tough rounds at the O2 Arena in London.
The 20-year-old said: "I've always said I want to be a young world champion. In a year I'll be stronger and better."
However, promoter Frank Warren insists Khan is still a long way off challenging for a world title.

The Bolton fighter's next contest falls inside Ramadan, a religious festival that demands Muslims fast during daylight hours for 30 days.
As a Muslim, Khan must observe the fast for over three weeks of training before meeting his opponent on 6 October, but he expects to have completed the more demanding build-up work before Ramadan begins on 13 September.
But the 20-year-old hopes he will feel fresher than he did for the Limond bout after a lengthy autograph signing session at his hotel on the eve of the fight left him drained.
"I felt lethargic against Limond and it was to do with the fact I stayed up late the night before," he said.
"We've had a chat and I'm not going to do that again next time. I like spending time with my friends.
"I was downstairs in the lobby and there were thousands of people coming to shake my hand. You think you're young and you'll get away it.
"It affected me on the night so next time I'm going to stay in my room. I'll play on the Playstation with a couple of mates like I usually do."
