Limond camp question Khan ability
Khan shipped a lot of punishment from Limond
Khan took plenty of punishment from Limond in London
Willie Limond's manager says the Scot should have beaten Amir Khan and has questioned the young Englishman's ability to ever be a world champion.

Khan took Limond's Commonwealth lightweight title on Saturday, but he had to pick himself up after a sixth-round knock-down to do so.

And Alex Morrison told BBC Sport: "It was a big disappointment. Willie could and should have won the fight.

"Khan can win one of the lesser titles, but I can't see him as a world champ."

Morrison insisted that it was not a case of sour grapes, even though there were suggestions that the referee had allowed the 20-year-old extra time on the canvas when he should have been counted out.

"It was not so much the count - that happens in boxing as referees always go with the promoter, the people that pay their wages," said Limond's manager.

"But Willie's greatest regret is that he did not finish him when he had him.

No matter how good you are, you can't put muscle on your chin

"One more punch would have changed his life completely.

"He let Khan off the hook and he knows that now. He lost himself a lot of money and it's going to be hard to come back from this."

Limond suffered a broken jaw and a damaged eardrum during what was the 28-year-old's second career defeat.

"The eardrum is the main concern," said Morrison.

"It is the third time he's had a burst eardrum and we will be taking medical advice before deciding our next move.

"He is downhearted, but he will get over it. All great fighters lose fights.

"I'm not saying Willie is one of the greatest, but he is a competent fighter and he is a better fighter than Willie thinks he is.

"Where Willie failed was that he did not throw enough punches. He held back too much and overestimated Khan.

"Khan deserved to win it because he came back from the brink of defeat, but there are question marks about his ability to take a punch.

"He seemed very vulnerable to the right hand and went down very easily.

"Willie is not the hardest puncher in the world and Khan wobbled several times.

"He lacks hardness and toughness and isn't as good as he thinks he is.

"You can't put muscle on your chin. No matter how good you are, if you can't handle a punch, there's no way you can improve that."
