Dunne has won his opening 23 professional bouts |
Bernard Dunne successfully defended his European super bantamweight title by stopping Kazakhstan's Yersin Jailauov in three rounds on Sunday night. Dunne dominated the first two rounds at Dublin's Point Depot and Jailauov was put on the canvas by a big left hook by the Irishman early in round three.
The Dubliner then swarmed all over his opponent and a halt was called one minute and 53 seconds into the round.
Unbeaten Dunne's win brings his record to 23 straight victories.
Dunne has become a major star in Ireland over the past three years, having made his name in the US under top coach Freddie Roach.
The Irishman is already highly ranked by all the main world governing bodies and he remains on course for a world title fight in the next 18 months.
The Dubliner was making the first defence of his title after his impressive victory over Esham Pickering at the same venue last November.
Jailauov's record included a second-round stoppage by former European Champion Michael Hunter last year.
